A walk through time
On this scenic walking tour we will travel through time to explore the story of Lough Swilly and Fort Dunree.
Join us on a fascinating journey from the end of the last Ice Age to the arrival of the first inhabitants, to Dunree becoming the reputed royal seat of the McLaughlin Clan and a site of strategic and defensive importance during the Napoleonic, First and Second World Wars.
Gain an insight into the local flora and fauna in a truly wild and unforgettable location.
Admission to the Fort and refreshments in the local café are also included.

Comfortable shoes and a waterproof coat and a warm layer should the weather turn. Don’t forget your camera! This walk includes a path with steep steps which may be slippery in places.
This route can be altered to be disability friendly.

Thoroughly enjoyed this hike, guided by Sharon who knows the area and its history like the back if her hand. It was amazing walking right through the wild, vast Donegal landscape you usually only experience from a car window. A+
